PORTFOLIO - Life in Monochrome

Photography can make an echo. It evokes emotions that are deeply inspired by capturing fleeting moments. Moments that are raw and intimate, touching the soul and reflecting on the personalities of the people involved.

The collection is showcased in black and white and infused with a deep sense of poetry, lending credence to a viable way of presenting reality. Life may be in colour, but in reality, it is really in black and white. It is the Ying and Yang. An attitude, a different way of looking at life.

Each image represents the stories of the people left behind. Giving their story a voice and place in this world - just as they are, unaltered. Reflecting honesty and being truthful to the scene in front of you and to the moment that is being captured. It allows for truthful contemplation, consideration and inevitability are direct calls to action.

It is one thing to photograph people. It is another, to make others care about them by revealing the core of their humanness. As a photographer, the stories that Chantelle tells through her images, speak not only for the subjects but in a deeper sense tell a story about how she observes the world.

A deeper, almost imperceptible story of the human experience, in which the struggle against time and the quest against personal limitation lives on.
